Dr Irfan Ahmed, Consultant in Musculoskeletal, Sport and Exercise Medicine

Dr Ahmed graduated from the University of Cambridge and obtained a full blue sports award competing for the university in amateur boxing.  He has published and presented at national and international conferences and is the lead author of the MSK playbook education series featured on the British Journal of Sports Medicine. The series featured as the number 1 most read blog article of 2024 on the journal.

Personal awards – International Clinical Scholar Award from the American College of Sports Medicine – 2021, Basem Travelling Fellowship Award (Aspetar Hospital Doha, Qatar) – 2023, International Olympic Committee conference on Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sport  – Symposium Speaker 2024.

He has also published on the impact of mouthguards use on athletic performance (VO2max) and previously worked as a ringside physician for amateur boxing.
