Mr Amer Khan graduated at Kings College London in Medicine and with a 1st class BSc in Sports and Exercise Physiology. He is dual fellowship trained in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, completing his training in Exeter, Guys & St Thomas’ Hospitals before further subspecialist training in Europe and the USA.
He was Clinical Lead for Trauma & Orthopaedics and Sports & Exercise Medicine at the Homerton University Hospital, a leading member of the Knee Team treating athletes at the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games treating many athletes, and co-developed the expansion of the Homerton Sports Injury Service into the Sir Ludwig Guttman Centre at the Olympic Site.
He was an orthopaedic advisor for the Ministry of Health & Social Services for the Namibian Government in January 2023.
Mr Khan’s subspecialist interest is in treating sports related injuries. He has specific expertise in biological joint preservation surgery including biological alternatives to joint replacement. He was the first surgeon in North East London & Essex to perform an arthroscopic meniscal transplant of the knee. He treats all sports athletes and has a particular interest in the management of martial arts injuries and the rapid return to sport.
He teaches and examines on FRCS courses, has peer reviewed for publications, currently teaches and lectures on several national and international courses for trainees and established surgeons.
